One of the things we love best about the work we do is getting to know our wedding professionals. We love to hear about how they got started, why they do what they do, and how they’ve reached their goals and successes. In our newest blog series “Your Stories” we’re going to share some of those stories with all of you.

Tell us why you started your business. What motivated you to become a wedding industry professional?

I started my wedding business because I LOVE creating beauty from flowers. I had worked freelance jobs and in brick and mortar florists for a number of years, but then had the opportunity to pursue pharmaceutical sales.

I always thought that pharmaceutical sales would be my dream job, outside of being a professional singer, but turns out I missed the creative outlet that floral design provided me. So, once my daughter was born, I opened CeCe Designs as a wedding and special event floral design company. I love being able to help a bride create a vision that she will forever be proud of!

What marketing strategies have been the most successful for your business?

The most effective marketing strategy for me has been embracing social media as the new “word of mouth” advertising. I use Live Streaming on Facebook and Instagram to share my passion and personality, and use my platforms to showcase the type of work we do. This is a great way for me to attract my ideal client!

What systems have you set up in your business to aid your success?

We have put in many systems to help our business grow. The most effective has been implementing a software that allows us to track our workflow while also being able to handle our quotes, invoicing, and inventory tracking.

We also hired an operations manager to ensure that the logistical aspects of the design process don’t get overlooked by the creative side.

What is one thing you know now, that you wish you’d known when starting your business?

Don’t start out budget. It is so difficult to change peoples’ perception of you after you become known as the budget provider. Don’t come out of the gate as the most expensive, but don’t be afraid to charge what you are worth!

Where do you see your business in 5 years?

My business will continue to trend more to luxury designs with significant floral budgets where the bride has a vision for lush flower designs. I will also be continuing to grow the educational side of my business to help others who want to avoid the costly mistakes I made when getting started.
